We’re at two wars in the middle east, unemployment is at 10%,nobody wants his healthcare plan, the deficit is skyrocketing, his biggest concern is that O’Reilly get $3 million this year in no-spin-zone doormats.

Okay, Nick gets pretty crazy, but it’s a great outlet for those of us that have been frustrated as of late.

Ok, first off, I wouldn’t approve the singing of praises to any one particular leader, let alone our current Commander in Chief.

I’m also not going to let Media Matters get away with a smear about the afore-linked Fox News report.  Said reporter(s) went into PSH mode and screamed (brackets are mine, just to give context)…

Soon after [Fox added the death threat/school lock-down update to the story] though, the Fox news report had been scrubbed of any mention of looming violence; it had been scrubbed of any notion that right-wing crazies apparently called the school and were threatening to kill the principal.

As it stands now, the report I linked is not missing the facts that they are complaining were missing.

Oh, but I bet these “watchdogs” called their bluff and shamed them into restoring the update!  That must be it… couldn’t have possibly been a mistake, or maybe that they were doing some re-investigating of their own and discovered it wasn’t even true!  From Raw Story:

Meanwhile, an operator at the head office of the B. Bernice Young Elementary School in New Jersey told RAW STORY on Friday morning that reports claiming the school was on “lockdown” after receiving “death threats” are “not true.”

“It is not true that the school was on lockdown and I’m not aware of any threats,” a woman with the school’s head office said. Asked her name, she replied, “My name is Ann,” then hung up.

A message was left with the school district’s public relations officer for confirmation.

However, a New Jersey newspaper reported Friday morning that a school safety director insists officers found the report of “death threats” against the principal to be “unsubstantiated.” Yet, a local Fox affiliate station claims police “confirmed” the threats, but would not specify their target(s).

Wow, so while there’s still some conflicting reports, the school itself says, “didn’t happen.”  Can we just simmer down now?

I echo some of Webster’s questions: why all the credit changes/revisions?  I see other news sites do this, too, and I don’t understand it.  I just chalk it up to me not understanding the news-agency-process and how the reporters communicate with those that actually post the copy online… fair enough?

Anyway, whatever happens after this, can we at least acknowledge that the cult of personality surrounding President Obama is really creepy and concerning?

I’m glad to hear that the school district in question is going to be investigating the events surrounding the song.  AND I also have to agree with their outrage that video of their underage students were posted online without their parents’ consent.  I think I would be pretty pissed, too, regardless of the circumstances.

That doesn’t let anyone off the hook for teaching and conducting that creepy chant/song, but I hope it gives folks pause as to how they choose to distribute such amateur video.

Btw, ThinkProgress, Media Matters… for God’s sake, go empty your pants and clean up.

President Obama’s Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, says, “turn the lights off, you rotten kids!” (emphasis mine)

Speaking on the sidelines of a smart grid conference in Washington, Dr. Chu said he didn’t think average folks had the know-how or will to to change their behavior enough to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

“The American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act,” Dr. Chu said. “The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is.”

The administration aims to teach them—literally. The Environmental Protection Agency is focusing on real children. Partnering with the Parent Teacher Organization, the agency earlier this month launched a cross-country tour of 6,000 schools to teach students about climate change and energy efficiency.

Just so we’re clear, America… you and I, adult-joe-public, are no better than the laziest of teenagers that stare into the fridge for 15 minutes and leave their lights on all night.  Not that I know many teens that do that anyway.  In fact, think the Secretary may be insulting most American teenagers.  Especially considering the DOE itself continues to fail its energy audits.

Anyway, a spokesman has already recalibrated Secretary Chu’s statements.  Now, remember the metaphor Mr. Chu used in his previous statement… (emphasis mine)

An update: Energy Department spokesman Dan Leistikow added: “Secretary Chu was not comparing the public to teenagers. He was saying that we need to educate teenagers about ways to save energy. He also recognized the need to educate the broader public about how important clean energy industries are to our competitive position in the global economy. He believes public officials do have an obligation to make their case to the American people on major legislation, and that’s what he’s doing.”

Reminds me of President Obama’s, “it’s not a tax” moment from this weekend.

The ruling just took place on Tuesday this week…

On September 8, 2009, United States District Judge Bruce D. Black of the United States District Court for New Mexico entered summary judgment in a civil case for damages against Alamogordo, NM police officers.  The Judge’s straight shootin’ message to police:  Leave open carriers alone unless you have “reason to believe that a crime [is] afoot.”

Judge Black’s opinion is consistent with numerous high state and federal appellate courts, e.g., the United States Supreme Court in Florida v. J.L. (2000) (detaining man on mere report that he has a gun violates the Fourth Amendment) and the Washington Appeals Court in State v. Casad (2004) (detaining man observed by police as openly carrying rifles on a public street violates the Fourth Amendment).

While I am not a practitioner of open carry, I support it and… well, this is freedom, and law on the side of freedom is good.

This is hilarious given some of the union thuggery taking place against independent Americans at various Town Hall meetings around the country.  From Jake Tapper @ABCNews:

Supporters of President Obama formerly signed up as members of “Obama for America” received an email today from Mitch Stewart, the director of the group’s current incarnation, Organizing for America, to show up at town halls and congressional offices as a counter to the protestors against the president’s health care reform push.

Painting the protesters as “Insurance companies and partisan attack groups…stirring up fear with false rumors about the President’s plan,” Stewart’s email tells supporters whom their member of Congress is and even provides information about town hall meetings they may be holding.

But Brian Walsh of the National Republican Senatorial Committee said, “It’s interesting to see the President’s political machine calling on his supporters to use their Constitutional right to free speech when the White House spent the last week criticizing others for doing the exact same thing. Republicans agree that every American should have the right to voice their opinion in a calm, respectful manner but after the ‘astroturfing’ rhetoric from the Democrats this week, it’s hard to ignore the hypocrisy in this mass email.”

Truly, some of those meetings have gotten fairly unruly. But what do you expect when then government is threatening to take so much away from us?  It feels like this scene from Saving Private Ryan.. (starting at 2:44, until 3:20)

NO, the other side are not Nazis… I’m not implying that characterization nor do I support the use of that characterization by anyone… I’m just relying on the scene and its drama in and of itself to convey how this feels.

More Hope and Change from Dear Leader…

On Monday, White House director of new media Macon Phillips posted a note on the White House web site complaining of “disinformation about health insurance reform.”  “These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation,” Phillips wrote.  “Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help.  If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.”

Linda Douglass, head of communications for the White House Office of Health Reform, says the White House is “not compiling lists or sources of information” on opponents of health care reform.  But if “fishy” information is indeed collected, as Phillips’ request suggested, the laws involved mean that the information obtained by the White House could not only be secret but permanent. A dissident database, in whatever precise form it ultimately takes, could be around for a long time to come.

So, turn in your neighbors, folks, if they disagree with any political policy and are spreading around their ideas… it’s for the greater good.  After all, who needs to argue and defend their ideas when you can just snitch on the messenger to the Federal government?

My posting frequency has slowed considerably because , since February, I’ve been out of work.  My company had two rounds of lay-offs in the face of all this Hope and Change; one late last year and one in February.

You’d think that being unemployed you would have all this extra time to post and rant.  I have not.  I have now been out of work for nearly 5 months and have spent the majority of that time looking for new work.  I have been online, on the phone, and in interviews for most of that time, as well.  Looking for work is nearly a full-time job.

It’s an amazing test of one’s faith in God, and a discovery of who you can count on.  We have found out just how blessed we truly are … and how thankful we are to still be in our starter home with our (relatively) miniscule mortgage!

I’ve got some promising interviews coming up in the next couple weeks… keeping the prayers up and fingers crossed!

Take heart, those of you still looking out there… there is still work available.

I’m just concerned, after I get a job, about how much more we, the producers, will be punished by our government… and that has kept me up at night more than being unemployed.

…as the FoxNews article correctly notes, Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh was following correct protocol.  Madam Boxer was simply following her ego.

It’s scarely been 11 years since the UK banned the personal ownership of firearms.  Since then, naturally, only the criminals have the guns now, violent assaults skyrocketed, and knife attacks increased, as well.  Rather than help restore the part of what made Great Britain great, some industrial designer decided to cash in on the gelding of the citizenry and has introduced so-called “stab-proof knives”.

It was invented by industrial designer John Cornock, who was inspired by a documentary in which doctors advocated banning traditional knives.

Cornock, 42, from Swindon. England, said that the knife will cut vegetables, but will make it almost impossible to stab someone to death and will reduce the risk of accidental injuries.

Ah, yes, if only they could introduce soft, rubber knives that could still cut a roast.  Nothing like addressing the symptom and not the sickness… only consumer choice will determine if this is truly what the public wants.
