Obama’s Civilian National Security Force

I completely forgot about this proposal:

If you can’t see or get to the video, this was from a July 2nd stump in Colorado Springs. Commentary back in July on this from American Thinker:

Voters haven’t paid much attention to his “Service” plan because the old news media has ignored it. That will likely continue, even though Obama attached an approximate price tag to it in Colorado Springs. When Obama said that the “civilian national security force” would be just as “well-funded” as the Armed Forces, he stepped squarely into the giant sandbox and played with the big numbers. As the late Carl Sagan said, “billions and billions” of dollars.

In his entire life, Senator Obama has never managed an organization larger than a Senate staff, or that of a law school publication. And, he’s never operated a for-profit business or been responsible for any profit center within one.  So, while words matter to Senator Obama, it’s not clear if math means anything to him at all.

Staggering.  Let’s just hope that in the event of an Obama presidency, this doesn’t turn into some crude form of the Schutzstaffel.  I doubt it, but stranger things have happened in history.

  1. Myself as well as many others, including “Gunny Bob” at 850 KOA radio raised the alarm about this back when it happened. I guess even 50,000 watts of power on the number one rated regional evening radio program couldn’t get pass the entrenched forces of political correctness and the Obamites in positions of power.

  2. Vaughn – I’m assuming you mean “lost”, from your perspective anyway.

1- Blackwater Worldwide, a private security, training, and military contract firm and…

2- the North American Aerospace Defense Command, a joint government operation between Canada and the US for enforcing “provides aerospace warning, air sovereignty and defense for North America”…

…have what to do with Obama’s proposal?

  3. No I meant ‘won’ Bush already has an army assigned to our domestic homeland (unconstitutional I might add)

That is exactly my point exactly Jamfish it’s already been done. So why are you worried about this?

  4. So, you’re arguing that NORAD and the hiring of security firms, like Blackwater, to fill security gaps is unconstitutional? I’m curious: on what grounds?

Mind you, I *do* have problems with DHS and what that whole bureaucratic, ineffective mess has wrought. Ugh.

What I’m worried about is another immensely bloated government institution — as he said, just as well-funded as the Armed Forces — designed to what exactly?

What is our local and federal law enforcement for? If he feels compelled to spend on security he can’t he “invest” in that?

  5. The Defense Authorization Act contravened the Posse Comitatus Act, Title 18 of the U.S. Code (USC), Section 1385, which prohibits the “willful” use of any part of the Army or Air Force as “a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws” except “in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress.” The intent of the Posse Comitatus Act was to prevent the use of the military to enforce police-state powers.

Read all of it here: http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/416 pretty much lays it out for you.

I guess my whole issue with this all has to do with the Patriot Act and all of the f****d up things that it does to us as citizens. All of that in combination with FISA and its warrantless wire tapping crap, along with the fact that we are no longer living in the land of the free. It all pisses me off. The fact that this blog should someone decide to arrest and detain any of us. They could try and use Blogs as prosecution for treason.

Then I have to listen to Obama is the Anti-Christ, He’s Black Christian, no wait he’s Muslim, he’s a terrorist, he was born here. It’s just all so stupid. Talk about something that actually matters like the deregulation of Wall Street and the ring of Political corruption on both sides that is stealing and bleeding the wealth of the middle-class. Yet somehow I’m supposed to get behind the weakest candidate the Republican Party has to offer with an even lesser V.P. whose economic advisor Phil Graham made 40 billion dollars by deregulating the Energy Markets and is in the 72 year old man’s ear, telling him what to do, and he is listening.

So I just think this whole Civilian National Security Force drivel is exactly that, drivels. Pick a fight worth fighting about.

  6. I’m still not sure what that has to do with NORAD or Blackwater Worldwide, except that the Brigade described in the article (U.S. Army North, the Army service component of Northern Command) falls under USNORTHCOM, as does NORAD. So, it sounds like your issue (and possibly mine as I read more up on it) is with the DFA, not with NORAD, as it were. Another interesting read is here.

So, given this, again, why would we want yet another bloated national security force?! I think my point still stands and is not “drivel”; it’s a stated point of Senator Obama’s platform and open to criticism.

I do realize that it’s 3 month old issue and I would rather be talking about bigger economic issues. So sue me for doing some house-cleaning and putting up some old, yet unpublished posts.

However, you certainly won’t find references to “Obama the Anti-Christ” or “the Muslim terrorist” here. While he has had, and continues to have, many questionable relationships, and hold certain worldviews that would justify other labels, the ridiculous ones you mentioned will not be mentioned here by me.

Feel better after your vent? 🙂
